East coast hospital recognized for high quality care, impressive

patient satisfaction scores, and the advancement of urology care.

Virginia Beach, Virginia – March 5, 2019

The Sentara Pelvic Floor Center at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital was recently designated a Center of Excellence by the National Association for Continence. The National Association For Continence is pleased to recognize Sentara’s dedication to serving the best interests of patients suffering with urologic conditions.  The Center of Excellence designation was largely driven by the achievements of Dr. Mary Burns, a board certified Urogynecologist, and Dr. Jessica M. DeLong, a board certified Urologist.

“The Sentara Pelvic Floor Center offers a sensitive, comprehensive approach to a needed medical specialty for women and men navigating mid-life,” says Bernie Boone, President of Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital. “The Center of Excellence designation from the National Association for Continence reflects our commitment to serving the health needs of this growing population.”

The Sentara Pelvic Floor Center provides a full range of urological procedures to address the following conditions; male and female bladder conditions, urinary incontinence, bladder cancer, kidney cancer, male impotence, urinary tract and kidney stones.

Sentara’s track record in high quality care speaks for itself, but what is most impressive is that the staff of Sentara work together to continue to push for the highest levels of patient satisfaction, exploring new technologies that improve quality care and successful outcomes, said Steven G. Gregg, Ph.D., executive director for the National Association for Continence. “We are thrilled to honor an organization like Sentara, which continues to achieve excellence in patient outcomes and the advancement of urology care.”

NAFC’s Centers of Excellence (COE) program was established to recognize centers and facilities that excel in providing bladder and bowel health care to patients, and to assist consumers dealing with pelvic floor dysfunction and incontinence issues. The COE designation is based on evidence of training, clinical experience, resources, and patient satisfaction statistics that meet established standards. These rigorous standards ensure that each center that is designated a COE is truly exceptional at providing care for patients with pelvic floor dysfunction and incontinence.
